Venezuela
How baseball first came to Venezuela is a somewhat new phrase. Many researchers believe Venezuelan college students who attended school in the United States and other countries first brought the game back to their home in the 1890's. Many Venezuelan players have enjoyed tremendous success at the Major League level. Miguel Cabrera, Magglio Ordóñez, Carlos Guillén and Victor Martínez are just a few of the many Venezuelan-born players who have gone on to the Majors.

In the most recent history, Venezuela has finished 7th in last two IBAF Baseball World Cups making the semifinals in each. In the 2006 World Baseball Classic, Venezuela advanced to Round Two after shutting out both Italy and Australia in their two wins of Round One. After a disappointing appearance at the first World Baseball Classic, they came back strong with only 2 losses out of 8 games played and being defeated by the Korean team in the semifinals. As of Opening Day 2016, there were 63 players from Venezuela in Major League Baseball who are making a big impact in today's game.

Venezuela used a win in the tiebreaker game to advance out of Pool D in the 2017 Classic first round but failed to find a groove in a second round filled with juggernauts in San Diego.
